Hi everyone,
Welcome to the final GRASP newsletter for 2025. As we wrap up the year, here’s some updates, reminders, and resources to help you close out 2025 and prepare for another year ahead.
Our final Thesis Blasts for the year are coming up, and it’s not too late to register!

Registration for the next Thesis Bootcamps are open! In 2026 we are running the in-person and online Bootcamps on separate days. If you are in Perth, feel free to register for both. The dates are:
Register by the 4th January at the link below. For more information on Thesis Bootcamps, including our FAQs, visit the GRASP website.

If you participated in any of the GRASP workshops this year, either by attending sessions or watching a recording, we invite you to complete a short survey. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the program, including what worked well and what could be improved. Your feedback is very valuable and will help us improve the program for future HDR students.
The survey should take about 3-5 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous, and your honest opinions will be greatly appreciated.
The final online meetup for 2025 is on 8 December and will focus on EndNote. It’s a chance to discuss any problems or issues you are experiencing, untangle things you are stuck on, and swap practical tips to make EndNote work for you. One of our Library EndNote experts will be there to answer questions and provide suggestions or advice.
Online: Monday 8 December 2025, 12 - 1pm AWST
We have our in-person end of year FYT celebration, Peers & Pizza, on Wednesday 10 December 5-7pm. This is a great opportunity to speed network with other HDR students and celebrate the year that has been. For those of you who live locally, we would love to see you there!
Although SUAW sessions have finished for the year, we are looking forward to offering them again, starting Monday 16 February 2026 - with an exciting new development!
We will be trialling an all day Shut Up and Write each Wednesday (except when Thesis Bootcamp or Thesis Blasts are scheduled), for both online and in-person attendees. In-person participants will meet in the Post-grad room on Level 5 of the Library. You’ll be able to work in the smaller group study room (laptop only) or the main room (for those wanting to use a second screen). We’ll have the check-in breaks in the smaller group study room which will include the online participants.
Our Ideas Hub blog, written especially for Curtin HDR students (yes, you!) has been posting weekly since it was created just a few months ago. Recent posts include:
We would love to hear from you about what topics you would like to see covered in the blog. We welcome guest posts, so if you have any tips, ideas or reflections about any aspect of the research journey, or experiences that you’d like to share, please get in touch!

It goes without saying that good physical health is important for our wellbeing. However, during the festive season healthy eating can take a back seat as those desserts and sweet treats appear out of nowhere, just begging to be eaten. To help you circumvent the temptation, here are some healthy festive recipes to try out, here and here , and for any gluten free/dairy free/vegan folk, check out Power Hungry, our current favourite recipe website.
Thanks for reading this newsletter. If you have any questions or suggestions about GRASP, or would like to unsubscribe from the newsletter, please get in touch using one of the email addresses below.
